JOB GOAL: To provide office and clerical support to assist with the efficient operation of Hesston Elementary School
TERM: 10-month position, 40 hours/week
RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent 2. Experience as a secretary with customer service skills 3. Demonstrated typing and filing skills 4. Experience in using various computers and computer programs, office machines, and telecommunications equipment 5. Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
1. Prolonged sitting and standing 2. Repetitive motions 3. Prolonged periods of time viewing a computer screen 4. Physical exertion to manually move, pull, or push heavy objects or materials 5. Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds unassisted 6. Stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, and turning 7. Frequent work in noisy, crowded, stressful environments with numerous interruptions
TERMS:
1. At will
2. Term of assignment is 10 months (2 weeks prior to first day of school to 2 weeks after last day) 3. Wage and benefits determined annually by the Board of Education
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Support the district’s vision, mission, and values
2. Implement all policies and statutes as determined by various governmental agencies, the Kansas State Department of Education, and the local board of education
3. Operate all equipment appropriately as required
4. Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time efficiently and courteously 5. Screen visitors and telephone calls, provide appropriate visitor badges, and direct visitors to the appropriate person/department
6. Screen and route incoming mail
7. Compose, type, and copy correspondence, reports, bulletins, records, and other materials
8. Obtain, gather, and organize pertinent data as needed
9. Maintain an orderly filing system
10. Assist with enrollment
11. Manage processes of the student data management system
12. Submit local and state reports as required
13. Communicate directly with the building principal and district office in monitoring building budgets
14. Help coordinate parent/teacher conference schedules
15. Keep student and personnel information records confidential
16. Respond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner
17. Communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school, district, and community
18. React to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, meeting deadlines as assigned
19. Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the principal
