RESPONSIBLE TO:  Supervisor of Operations

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.  High school diploma or equivalent
2.  Ability to work independently without supervision
3.  Experience and knowledge in the areas of electrical, maintenance, and carpentry
4.  Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance

 

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

1.  Prolonged standing, sitting, and/or walking
2.  Physical exertion to manually move, pull, or push heavy objects or materials
3.  Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds unassisted
4.  Stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, reaching, climbing, and balancing
5.  Ability to move furniture or equipment within the building as required
6.  Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors
7.  Must work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous interruptions
8.  Must work indoors and outdoors year round in a variety of temperatures

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.  Support the district’s vision, mission, and values

2.  Implement all policies and statutes as determined by various governmental agencies, the Kansas State Department of Education, and the local board of education

3.  Operate all equipment and machinery as required

4.  Keep building and premises (including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas) neat and clean and safe at all times

5.  Clean classroom and office floors daily (e.g., pencil sharpeners, trash, dusting, blackboards, chalktrays, classroom sinks)
6.  Clean corridors daily including dusting locker tops and cleaning drinking fountains
7.  Clean restrooms daily (e.g., mop floors, mirror, fill soap and toilet paper dispensers)
8.  Sweep bleachers, stage, and stairs; clean behind bleachers and mop as needed.

9.  Sweep, shovel, and sand walks as appropriate
10.  Close buildings each school day, set alarms at the end of the evening shift, and secure building
11.  Take down flags, following proper flag etiquette, including proper disposal of worn flags

12.  Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season, ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity, and maintain mechanical equipment as directed

13.  Check emergency and exit lights

14.  Ensure all doors and windows are secured and all lights are turned off (except as necessary for safety reasons) at the close of school each day

15.  Immediately report unauthorized persons on the school premises to the principal or supervisor

16.  Immediately report damaged school property to the principal or supervisor

17.  Make minor building repairs, and promptly report needed major repairs to the supervisor

18.  Keep current on new information, innovative ideas and techniques

19.  Respond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner
20.  Communicate well and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community

21.  React to changes and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, and handle other tasks as assigned

22.  Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor of operations or the administrative staff
